Yes. Aerial silks are practiced and preformed with great risk of injury or death. People interested in taking an aerial silks class should do so with a certified, insured instructor that specializes specifically in this skill. It is highly recommended that you not try this at home.
Yes. If I sweat, it’s a sport. Participants can expect to burn fat, build muscle and increase flexibility in any level aerial class. Just ask this aerial beauty pictured here! If you are interested in the competitive world of aerial arts, please email Info@CentralValleyAerialAcrobatics.com before signing up.
People of all ages, body shapes and athletic abilities are encouraged to sign up. You don’t need to be weight lifter or a bendy yogi to find success. Aerial skills are learned over time. Aerial silks are for everyone.
While it’s highly encouraged to climb in the Foundations session, it is not required. The climbing techniques taught will allow you to be comfortable enough to take both hands off the silk at any height to rest if needed. All other skills are practiced on the ground until the aerialist is comfortable taking it up high. If heights aren't your thing, don’t worry! There are dozens upon dozens of cool tricks to be done at eye level.
The goal is to create a positive, encouraging atmosphere where everyone feels empowered and accomplished. You are an aerial goddess from the moment you sign up and will be treated as such!
Women - Please wear form fitted clothing with a shirt that can be tucked in. Yoga pants or stirrup leggings with a tank top are ideal. It is recommended that students keep a t-shirt with them to protect the area under your arms from fabric burn.
Men – Please wear appropriate attire under your gym shorts and a fitted shirt that can be tucked in. Loose clothing can get tangled in the fabric and become a hazard.
Please bring lots of water and a yoga mat or towel.
***Kindly remove all jewelry prior to class. Jewelry is dangerous for you and can tear the silks.
If you feel deeply connected with your inner acrobat and would like to continue on, you may choose to repeat a session or advance to the next level. Combinations requirements must be met to move forward. Think of aerial acrobatics as an ongoing practice, similar to dance or yoga. You may repeat the Foundations, Combinations or Creative sessions several times each and continue to learn new skills.
This is not an aerial dance class so there is no recital at the end. In lieu of a performance, I have partnered with an amazing photographer to offer you memories to take home. The photo shoot is optional, and the cost is separate from your tuition. Prices/packages will be posted shortly.
